what drives us
We exist to educate, empower, and inspire youth.
Why we do it
- Youth are not adequately prepared for the workforce.
- Female-identified and non-binary youth face additional barriers that contribute to the gender gap.
- Data indicates that it will take over 165 years to achieve workplace gender equality.
that's not okay.
Studies show that female-identified youth in particular experience a dip in self-esteem during adolescence. This timing matters: confidence, communication skills, the ability to set and/or achieve goals, and even career expectations are examples of key assets that develop in these formative years.
ShEvalesco works to accelerate the development of self-efficacy. Self-efficacy is a measure of our belief that we can achieve and overcome, and it is a known predictor of personal and professional success.
At ShEvalesco, we say: you CAN.
You CAN bounce back from failure.
You CAN speak directly and assertively.
You CAN feel confident to negotiate a wage.
You CAN advocate for yourself, and for others.
You CAN feel empowered to manage your money.
We’ll show you how.
ShEvalesco builds self-efficacy through hands-on life skill programming, particularly in subject areas identified as disproportionately affecting female-identified and non-binary youth:
communication
& self-advocacy
The ability to communicate assertively and advocate on one’s own behalf are key determinants in achieving personal and professional success.
building
resilience
In adolescence, employing resilience-related tools to manage wellbeing has a critical impact on the ability to persevere, develop and maintain self-confidence, and support mental and physical health.
financial
literacy
Early introduction to financial literacy paves the way for long-term financial empowerment, well-being and independence.
